Annual Summer Event July 2023

Unveiling the magic of Lavender Libros in the Village – a community event that blossoms with the joy of reading, fostering literacy among young minds.

Children visiting the GGAB tent were greeted with a smile a new book and invited to share a story with us courtesy of our dedicated Lavender Libros Readers!

Lavender Libros in the Village is an annual literacy outreach event in which Global Give-A-Book distributes new books to children visiting the Lavender in the Village Festival hosted in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM. In 2023, GGAB’s participation in this event was a huge success, with over 600 books given away, a 40% increase from the previous year. We also had 44 amazing volunteers who gave excellent feedback about the event.

Through our outreach at Lavender Libros in the Village, GGAB not only provides a book to each child but also encourages the love of reading. As part of this event, community leaders volunteer their time to read to the children during hourly story times. These leaders included Lala Gonzales, Host at 9.99 The Beat, and Roman Baca, an Electrical Engineer. We are lucky to have such fantastic community members involved in our literacy initiatives!

We want to thank everyone who helped GGAB put on this event and promote youth literacy! With vibrant storytelling sessions and a garden of literary wonders, the Lavender Libros in the Village event creates an immersive experience that ignites children’s passion for literacy.

United, we can bridge the divide in book access.
