GGAB is excited to announce our partnership with Cuidando Los Ninos!
Cuidando Los Ninos (CLN) is a 5-star preschool with wrap-around services to help end the cycle of child homelessness. I had the pleasure of having a tour of the center; and learning about all the wonderful services they provide for not only the children but the whole family that visits the center.
From the attentive and purposeful schooling the children receive to the supportive housing and the parental education and coaching available, it's clear to see the effort and care CLN puts into helping these families break out of the cycle of homelessness. This is why GGAB wants to support this mission by bringing quality books and reading programs to the center to promote youth literacy! Our UNM reading tutors (including myself!) will have the opportunity to visit the center weekly and read books aloud to the children. We at GGAB know the importance of youth literacy, and we are eager to foster it with any opportunity.
On a more personal note, I am a psychology major at UNM, and getting to see how much the staff at CLN integrated concepts of developmental psychology into the schooling of the children really inspired me. They also emphasized the importance of viewing the family unit as a whole instead of only focusing on the child, which I agree is a much more effective way to help the children by looking at the whole picture. I got to see up close how work in the psychology field can make a difference in people’s lives. Especially when implemented in the way the center does. The experience opened my eyes to a possible career choice I didn’t know of before, one that gives direct aid to those that really need it, and that was wonderful to see.Â
United, we can bridge the divide in book access.
Donating to Global Give-A-Book is a meaningful investment in the future of underserved children.
Your contribution directly supports our mission to provide quality books to children who need them the most and empower children with the tools for success.
