Fall 2024
The Montezuma Ball this year was a tremendous success, raising over $1 million for the nonprofit organization R4Creating! Held on November 23 at Hotel Albuquerque, this annual event celebrated community spirit and the importance of empowering youth through education. GGAB was proud to participate, reinforcing our commitment to promoting literacy and educational opportunities in collaboration with R4Creating.
Adding to the fundraising efforts, longtime GGAB supporter William Gentry generously donated artwork, showcasing the community's dedication to the cause. The funds raised will significantly expand R4Creating’s STEAM services throughout New Mexico, ensuring children have access to critical learning opportunities.

On November 23rd I had the pleasure of attending the 2024 Montezuma Ball as a volunteer. It was an amazing experience in every way. I never got to go to prom so getting to get dressed up and wear a nice dress was a lot of fun for me. I loved being there and helping behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. I helped with a lot of odd jobs as needed alongside the other wonderful volunteers. It was a lot of fun getting to know the other volunteers as we worked through the evening and overcame snags.
The beneficiary of the evening was R4 Creating, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support STEM opportunities for students. They had science tables throughout the halls with cool demonstrations that dazzled and amazed the guests. There were also multiple places to get your photo taken and printed which made for a fun souvenir. The secondary beneficiary was Mandy's Farm, another non-profit that aims to help individuals with developmental disabilities find jobs.
There were multiple ways the Montezuma Ball raised money for their beneficiaries. Aside from the money raised from table seating sales they also held an auction and sold raffle tickets. The raffle prize was a one-of-a-kind painting by Gorge Alexander, AKA Ofuskie, which he painted live on stage! Watching the process as he painted live was incredible and the finished product was stunning. At the end of the night the ball had raised over 1,000,000 dollars, raising more than their projected goal! It was heartwarming to see everyone come together and I know R4 creating is beyond thankful.
For many people, the Montezuma Ball kicks off the holiday season and I can see why. With amazing food, fun activities, and the opportunity to give back to the community and support a deserving non-profit organization the Montezuma Ball has everything you need to get into the holiday spirit. The night was a success in so many ways and I am so glad I got to be a part of it.
