Global Give-A-Book was awarded the PNM Non-Traditional Pathways to Education Grant, supporting our mission to promote youth literacy. This grant allows GGAB to host impactful read-a-thons, directly reaching children with the resources they need to thrive!
A Day of Literacy and Learning with GGAB

Working alongside the youth to promote youth literacy at the Cesar Chavez Community had a very inspiring impact on the future of education. For this Read-A-Thon event, we read “Pipsie The Nature Detective: The Disappearing Caterpillar” and followed it with a book report. Throughout the event, the students were very engaged, and were eager to answer questions pertaining to the text, and relating them to their own lives.
During the event, our GGAB staff made a deliberate effort to introduce our non-profit to the students in an easily understandable way and hopefully
inspired them to keep being curious and ambitious about education. During this event, some children expressed that they had only a few or no books in their homes and were looking forward to reading the books we had given them.
Some students did require some extra support throughout the book report, but with the right assistance, they flourished in finding the correct answers on their own with further motivation to keep exploring the features of the book. Overall, being a part of this event was truly inspiring, as it truly showcased how much of a difference Global-Give-A-Book is making within the world of reading for students, as we were able to observe firsthand how excited students were to read and ask questions. I am so grateful to be a part of this organization, inspiring a continuation of education.
